Job Description

The Square Online team is looking for talented iOS and Android developers to help build out the best possible store and operational features for the fast growing Square Online product. You will help build and own a wide variety of mobile functionalities on Square Point of Sale and our existing Square Online mobile apps. You will not only have the opportunity to influence the product roadmap with your experience; you will help thousands of merchants to quickly set up their online presence, start accepting orders and operate their business.

You will be working closely with design and product to shape and simplify these unique experiences and then working across multiple different teams and services to build, measure and iterate. If you want to empower small merchants, and are able to work on a sophisticated and complex mobile platform, the Square Online team is for you.

The broader ECOM team is a growing product team based out of New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Scottsdale, Seattle and more. We are relentlessly customer focused, and iterate quickly using an Agile approach.

Qualifications

On Android you’ll need to…

  • Have at least 3+ years of experience working in the Android ecosystem

  • Be proficient in Kotlin and Java for development (we use both)

  • Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between

  • Have good understanding of Unit testing and UI testing

  • Write and review engineering design documents and guide product design

  • Build high availability and resilient features which can unlock multiple opportunities for our sellers and their buyers

  • Work with other iOS, Android, and Web engineers to ship features

  • Work with product managers and designers to refine and determine product scope

  • Respond to customer feedback to improve our products

 

On iOS you’ll need to…

  • Have at least 3+ years of experience working in the iOS ecosystem

  • Have at least 5+ years of experience with software development

  • Be proficient in Swift and Objective-C for development and a good understanding of gRPC

  • Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between

  • Have good understanding of unit testing and UI testing

  • Build high availability and resilient features which can unlock multiple opportunities for our sellers and their buyers

  • Work with other iOS, Android, and Web engineers to ship features

  • Work with product managers and designers to refine and determine product scope

  • Respond to customer feedback to improve our products
