Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Our hardware team builds the tangible connection to all that is Square. We are looking for an exceptional PCB Layout Engineer to help deliver the next generation of products. From the Square Card Reader for NFC and chip cards, Square Stand, Square Terminal and Register, our family of devices is growing - and this is only the beginning. As we introduce more and more of our products to the world, our hardware footprint continues to expand.

You will:

  • Generate and release rigid and flexible printed circuit designs for a variety of payment and high-security system designs

  • Help maintain and enhance component library.
  • Review and ensure all parts conform to IPC, manufacturer and company standards.
  • Work with our internal ASIC design team to influence chip and chip packaging design to better meet the needs of PCB layout

You have:

  • 5+ years PCB design experience

  • Experience with PLM (product lifecycle management) practices and PLM tools such as Agile or Arena

Even Better:

  • Experience with Altium Concord in addition to Altium CAD system
