Company Description

When we launched the little white reader, we invented mobile, ubiquitous payments and enabled anyone to start, run, and grow a business. Ten years and billions of transactions later we’re reimagining commerce for businesses of all types and sizes—we’re enabling the independent electrician to send invoices, helping the beauty salon pay its employees, and giving the burgeoning coffee chain capital for a second, third, and fourth location. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

As a Software Engineer working on Square Financial Services you will build the first FDIC insured deposits products offered by Square's new bank. Square Point of Sale powers millions of small businesses, and Square Capital has extended over $4.5 billion in loans to hundreds of thousands of sellers. Now, as a newly chartered bank, we're able to offer deposit products that integrate with our existing products, and offer exciting features that set us apart from traditional banks.

You will:

  • Partner with colleagues across engineering, product, design and operations to develop new financial services products.

  • Implement banking products that improve upon industry standard features using Square’s proprietary transaction data.

  • Build systems that collect and maintain customers’ sensitive data, while holding Square to the highest standards for security and compliance.

  • Design fault tolerant systems so the team can be brave and move fast, without ever negatively affecting our customers.

  • Work full-stack to create products that are beautiful inside and out – from their optimized database transactions to their elegant user experience.

Qualifications

You have:

  • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience

  • Hands-on software development skills and an ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance.

  • The desire to work collaboratively, whether in person, over video, or asynchronously through online tools.
