Job Description
The Square Revenue Accounting team is looking to hire a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, reporting to the Revenue Team Lead, you be responsible for partnering closely with the product and systems teams to ensure that business transactions activity is appropriately captured and accounted for in our financial statements. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, be able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, and show strong leadership skills. We are open to having this role be full-time remote but this role will support clients based in Pacific Time and will be expected to be available during the team's core hours.
You Will:
- Be in the mindset to take on new tasks, operationalize and refine them, and move on to new additional responsibilities
- Improve our processes and enhance documentation and controls as part of our SOX compliance efforts
- Partner with the e-commerce and SaaS (software as a service) teams to build scalable revenue recognition processes in Oracle Cloud
- You will partner with the business to help review sales agreements to assess the revenue recognition impact
- Review current revenue recognition procedures and implement process improvements to improve the efficiency and timeliness of the close and reporting
- Prepare month-end journal entries and supporting schedules related to Square's e-commerce, SaaS products, processor cash inflows, and other areas
- You will work with Technical Accounting, Internal Audit and the Company's independent public accounting firm on technical accounting matters
- Work with diverse and teams, domestically and internationally
- Partner with Square's Finance & Strategy team to investigate variances between actual results and forecasts and help with the budgeting process
- Support quarterly reviews and annual audits performed by external auditors
- Complete special projects
Qualifications
You Have:
- Passion for Square and interest in technology/knowledge of the industry
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- Previous role(s) should include audit, GL accounting, or revenue accounting
- Technical knowledge and practical knowledge of revenue recognition standards ASC 605 and ASC 606
- Strong with Excel (can perform complex functions) - SQL experience a plus
- Oracle Cloud experience is nice to have
