The Square Content Marketing team aims to be the go-to source for independent business owners who want to start, run, and grow their businesses. Our goals are to establish Square as a thought leader, to build the relationship between businesses and our brand, and to acquire new Square sellers through self-service and lead generation strategies.
Businesses around the world use and love Square and telling their stories moves critical business metrics at all stages of the customer journey. In this role, you will create and drive social proof strategy and develop scalable and efficient methods to capture and produce assets including logos, testimonials, and case studies. As part of that work, you’ll define an approach and guidelines for influencers (both traditional Influencers and people of influence, including our sellers). You’ll also drive the content strategy for social proof — from pitching, production, distribution, and measurement — and you will strive to create consistency across our channels.
Your work will include the hands-on production of case studies, testimonials, etc. and consulting on other projects and campaigns where social proof is being developed. You’ll contribute to campaign execution — be it through seller stories or influencer work — and work with our Sales Enablement team to ensure that our assets are of use to our customer-facing teams.
This is a highly creative and cross-functional role that will collaborate with the Brand, Experiential, Demand Gen, Communications, Product Marketing, Creative, Sales, and Account Management teams in addition to Square partners, vendors, agencies, and our customers.
You Will:
Develop a social proof strategy that ladders into a broader content marketing and marketing strategies, working closely with team leads and other editors/strategists/specialists on full-funnel campaigns that support business, product, and audience goals.
As part of your social proof strategy, build a strategy and guidelines for Square’s influencer program and create processes that enable you to support execution across teams and campaigns.
Work cross-functionally to create a program(s) that allow for scalable and efficient collection and creation of social proof (logos, testimonials, case studies) and seller storytelling
Produce original content and experiment with formats and narrative styles of seller storytelling to differentiate us from competitors and elevate the editorial approach, partnering with the Editorial team and Creative teams.
Create social proof guidelines and best practices for distribution and measurement; create governance of how social proof is used across the company. Consult and inform strategies for content distribution in partnership with Square’s owned channel strategists/specialists and stakeholders, including public web (squareup.com), social media, YouTube, email, print, etc.
Create a library of social proof and a directory of sellers with great stories that is accessible to teams across the company
Consult on strategies and collaborate with the Marketing team (including international markets), Sales, and Product teams on campaigns and projects where seller stories and social proof is required.
Generate content performance reports and insights, utilizing Google Analytics and internal tools to track trends and key results, and to inform ongoing content strategy.
Qualifications
You Have:
5+ years of post-university work experience and a BA/BS in a related field such as journalism, marketing, or communications
Experience as a journalist or content marketer
The ability to easily build rapport with customers
Top notch, demonstrated interviewing, writing, and editing skills that can be used across a variety of content types and formats
Ability to develop content/editorial strategies
Experience with content and editorial production (creating briefs, managing editorial calendar/deadlines, handling feedback, project management, etc.)
Ability to develop narratives for a variety of formats including articles, video, audio, and live events
A solid understanding of content distribution/marketing channel best practices (social media, email, paid ads, SEO, etc.)
A creative approach to content and the ability to communicate your vision to people from other disciplines
Knowledge of content measurement and reporting metrics
An energetic and solution-oriented attitude
Even Better:
Experience in B2B marketing, with exposure to small, medium, and enterprise businesses
Experience in other types of marketing, such as demand generation, lead generation, growth marketing, etc.
Photoshop or other graphic design skills
Video and/or audio production skills
