Software Engineering Tech Lead, Square Appointments

  • Full-time

Company Description

When we launched the little white reader, we invented mobile, ubiquitous payments and enabled anyone to start, run, and grow a business. Ten years and billions of transactions later we’re reimagining commerce for businesses of all types and sizes—we’re enabling the independent electrician to send invoices, helping the beauty salon pay its employees, and giving the burgeoning coffee chain capital for a second, third, and fourth location. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Square Appointments helps service professionals manage their calendar on the go. With Square’s online scheduling software, customers can always get access to their availability and confirm their appointments seamlessly online. Our software is the point of sale for the merchants and a tool for them to manage their time. As a Tech Lead on Appointments, you will build products, and services that are inspiring, meaningful and will fundamentally change the economy we know today. You will be responsible for technical architecture and design for our product, working closely with our product, design and engineering team.

This is a greenfield opportunity, we’re trying to build something new, and starting a team to tackle it. We’re building out a cohesive set of scheduling APIs and product features to help developers and merchants build ambitious products. Our product spans across mobile, web, payments and scheduling and you’ll need to work closely across all the domains. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about product, APIs, developer enablement and solving all the challenging engineering problems we’ll face building building scalable Appointments APIs.

You'll join a small Square team in Denver, CO. Initially you will be asked to work from home or in co-working spaces (at our expense), and you’ll partner with supportive colleagues in San Francisco. There will be opportunities to travel to San Francisco to meet the wider team. It’s important to note that this is not a remote role. As we grow in Denver we expect to find a permanent office for the team to work together on larger projects, and you'll be a big part of growing our Denver presence.
