Job Description
We are looking for a technical and strategic Product Analyst for Square Payments, the core product and foundation for all other products at Square. Product Analysts at Square are embedded within product teams and leverage engineering, analytics, and machine learning to empower data-driven decision making in the full life cycle of product development. As a member of the team, you will lead experimentation and growth initiatives, develop automation solutions to personalize product experiences, provide insights to our sellers about their business, and drive strategic decisions with data. Square’s mission is economic empowerment, and our team supports this by using data to understand and empathize with our customers, thereby enabling us to build remarkable product experiences.
Millions of merchants use Square Payments for their businesses every day. The Payment Product team focuses on improving the end-to-end user experience for these merchants and on building new user-facing tools to help them better manage the critical payment aspects of their business.
As a Product Analyst, you will:
Identify target customers, their needs, and how our products will meet those needs through surveys, interviews, and product usage
Build self-service data tools that enable monitoring the health and performance of our core business
Be the subject matter expert on payments data and communicate recommendations to decision makers
Evangelize data best practices and act as an advocate of data driven culture across Square
Partner and collaborate with Product Management, Design and Engineering to define the product strategy and feature roadmap
Partner and collaborate with Product Marketing to develop go-to-market plans and track marketing program performance and optimizations through continuous testing
Qualifications
You have:
4+ years of industry experience using data analytics to produce impactful insights
Experience driving cross-functional analytics projects from beginning to end: question formation, data model design, logging, ETL, validation, analysis, machine learning, visualization, and presentation
Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build strong relationships and influence with product partners
Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects that depend on the contributions of others in a variety of disciplines
Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
Willingness to learn new tools and technologies to model and solve unstructured problems
Experience with large data sets is a plus
