Square is looking for a dynamic and proven leader to manage and scale our Executive Assistant organization. Our Executive Assistants support our top executives across the globe and are the strategic partners who keep our teams focused on supporting Square's goals. The Square EA team is a centralized organization where EAs report into EA Managers; we have found that this structure incentivizes knowledge sharing, efficient communication and processes, and teamwork while prioritizing individual career development for the EAs. We are looking for an EA Team Lead who has second line people management experience, exceptional operational experience, and someone who’s passionate about leading a highly motivated group of individuals.
You will:
Manage 6 direct reports (4 EA people managers and 2 EA individual contributors) and lead a globally distributed team of ~35 Executive Assistants with varying levels of experience
Establish and iterate on EA team brand, mission, vision, and values
Support directs’ effectiveness and successful development of their job responsibilities through dynamic coaching, mentorship, and advocacy, varying across the needs of each direct; communicate performance expectations through consolidation, synthesis, and delivery of feedback during our performance review and promotion cycles
Collaborate with the Leadership team reporting into the CFO; align and execute on top priorities across the organization
Corral EA people managers and partners on team-wide matters, including annual and incremental budget planning processes, team-wide load balancing, identifying trends and recommending systemic improvements
Lead organization-wide meetings, promotion and compensation calibration, recruiting outlook and hiring processes, and other team building programs
Oversee and allocate team budget and headcount, advocating for more if necessary through business case presentations
Establish and maintain healthy relationships with cross-functional business partners (Finance, HR, Recruiting, Legal) in support of team programs and goals
Manage administrative responsibilities for directs, including time cards, time-off approval and balance, reporting processes approval, Workday management, and team resource maintenance
Qualifications
You have:
6+ years of relevant professional experience as an organizational lead or second line people manager
Previous work experience as an Executive Assistant or similar function (Operations, Recruiting, HR, etc.)
Experience collaborating successfully with a variety of different executives and teams and communicating with all types of personalities and team members
The desire to lead a team through inspiration and motivation, and a passion for establishing a best-in-class brand internally and externally
Appreciation for the challenges of supporting a growing team of diverse personalities and programs and implementing methodologies to scale
The ability to value teamwork at all levels, while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient
