Job Description

Square is looking for an SEO expert. You’ll serve as the subject matter leader for the eCommerce group, responsible for defining and executing a strategic roadmap for organic search for all eCommerce products. This role will work with closely with numerous stakeholder teams within the eCommerce group and with the larger Square organization, including paid marketing, product marketing, content, product, design, engineering, and analytics. The ideal candidate possesses a strong combination of business acumen, written and verbal communication skills, and analytical skills.

You Will:

  • Define measurable goals and KPIs, set priorities, socialize SEO strategy, and work with stakeholder teams to meet those requirements

  • Deliver comprehensive quarterly roadmaps derived from data and customer insight

  • Manage and oversee all SEO implementation

  • Partner with paid marketing managers to support and meet  growth marketing team’s goals 

  • Proactively review and identify SEO growth opportunities by analyzing existing content architecture, keyword constructs, audits and data/traffic analysis

  • Establish guidelines for marketing teams, product managers, developers, and designers to maximize search engine optimization for our products and for our customers, including but not limited to reducing page load/latency, optimizing URL structure, and data and site architecture

  • Build a set of operational best practices that will track and report on SEO efforts, improvements being made and areas of development 

  • Stay abreast with SEO trends, search engine algorithm updates, and technology; help educate internal teams on industry best practices

Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of SEO experience in SMB or B2B (video SEO a plus)

  • Sense of ownership and passion for all areas related to growth marketing, and especially to SEO

  • Be a subject matter expert in all core SEO areas including but not limited to: Content, Keyword Research, Technical SEO - UX, site architecture, URL structure, sitemaps, canonical tags, dynamic/static pages, and On-Page Optimization (Metadata, Headings, Content, Anchor Links, Navigation, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience in HTML, CSS, and other website technology related to SEO

  • Hands-on experience using & reporting from Google Analytics, Google Search Console, BrightEdge, SEMRush, SERPs, Ahrefs, SpyFu, Tag Manager, Moz, Keyword Research tools and other relevant tools

  • Have demonstrated ability to work and influence decision makers in a fast-paced, matrixed organization, with stakeholders across multiple time zones and offices

  • Have exceptional problem solving, and analysis skills combined with the ability to synthesize large data and effectively communicate findings to all levels throughout the organization

  • Have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, initiative and integrity

  • BA/BS required
