Cash App Sales Lead

The Growth Team drives customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization overall for Cash App. With this scope, we’re building a state-of-the-art rewards, payments, and advertising platform to power commerce end-to-end for the largest brands in the world. We started this mission with Cash App Boost - an instant rewards program linked to the Cash Card - and are continuing to innovate across a number of different dimensions to bring as much value as possible to top merchants and to our customers. As part of this, we are looking to hire an outstanding sales leader - Cash App’s Sales Lead - who is deeply experienced in all of the key components needed to build out a full sales function from scratch. This means:
Managing our existing pipeline of merchants and sourcing new prospects for Cash App
Landing deals and finding product market fit on the merchant side across product areas
Building and scaling a team and sales culture from scratch
Developing Cash App’s overall sales approach and go-to-market strategy
Managing long-term strategic relationships and performance with top partners
In short, this role is about leveraging your deep experience to build the Cash App Sales Team from the ground up while having a massive impact on Cash App’s success in the immediate term - - both from a financial perspective and a customer experience perspective. There are few roles at fast-growing companies who have already achieved scale where a Sales Lead would have the opportunity to build the entire organization from the ground up. Customer acquisition & relationship management: Own and optimize all of the Cash App partnerships through a scalable sales approach as well as detailed, proactive partner management. This will start with Cash App’s Boost program and expand outward. You will develop and own all relationships with Boost partners, which includes publishers, product partners, and customers:
Customers (i.e., Advertisers): McDonald’s, Walmart, Duane Reade, Whole Foods, etc.
Product Partners: Visa, Amex, Apple, Google Pay, etc.
Publishers: Button, Empyr, Cardlytics, Groupon Plus, Ibotta, etc.
Develop Strategy: Develop a comprehensive sales strategy to maximize revenue and maintain the integrity & value of Cash App and the Boost product.
Revenue ownership: Drive incremental revenue for Cash App through Customer (i.e., Advertiser) sales and through providing critical market feedback that flows through to product improvements from our existing, healthy pipeline. Partner with the Growth Team, Product Leads, and Finance & Strategy to align on P&L targets, which will flow through to regular business planning and investment opportunities / tradeoffs.
Build Sales Team: Building the team, processes and tools required to maximize our new market opportunity while ensuring the performance of current partnerships and working relationships. Develop critical KPIs and execute management strategies to deliver against said KPIs.
Leverage Your Network: Grow, maintain and leverage your network. Attend conferences, trade shows, and industry events to build relationships, close deals and maintain expertise in the financial technology, payments, and rewards + status space.
Sell Like a Boss: Develop and deliver powerful sales presentations that educate prospective customers and partners on the value props that Cash App and Boost provide. Effectively communicate with presence with senior decision makers of prospective customers.
Cross Functional Collaboration: Establish yourself as the primary Sales resource for Cash App overall. Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, Marketing, and Engineering to drive efficiencies and improvements that flow through to a better customer experience (both for Cash App customers and enterprise Boost customers).
15+ years of sales or business development experience including significant time in a leadership role, preferably in a fast moving technology and/or financial services company
A strong understanding of the end to end sales lifecycle
Experience with developing and evolving the sales process to ensure revenue generation and scalability with a high volume product
Experience with commercial contracts and negotiations. The gravitas and strength to negotiate a great deal for both parties.
Deep experience developing, coaching and motivating sales teams. The ability to develop a strong point of view and leverage your past experience to decide and execute what sales structure to put in place for Cash App.
Strong written and oral communication skills - an insane presenter. You will perform a mock pitch during interviews to show off your skills.
Demonstrated track record of success, including the ability to artfully pivot and creatively problem solve during a fluid sales process.
Proven ability to sell into high-level executives and to navigate customer organizations to connect with the key decision makers.
Exceptional leadership abilities with a demonstrated leadership track record with a large or high-growth company. The natural ability to coach, motivate and inspire.
A strong dedication to culture - a willingness to build an entire organization from scratch and ensure that the team is founded on the correct values, principles, and abilities.
Flexible & accountable, with the ability to work with little oversight in a fast-paced startup environment.
