The Cash App Operations team is responsible for building and managing a scalable operating environment for a fast growing mobile payment app with multiple, external partners and internal, cross-functional stakeholders.  You will be the executive leader responsible for overall management of our bitcoin business and delivering operational excellence in multiple critical areas including liquidity management, trading, third party partnerships, and custody / cold storage.  As the business lead, you will, optimize our bitcoin trading operation, pursue high impact business opportunities, identifying and remediating operational issues, and influencing product development.

Job Description

 

  • Operate the bitcoin business on a day-to-day basis ensuring faster and more efficient operations including critical functions:  liquidity, trading, partnerships and cold storage

  • Hire, develop and retain a highly talented Bitcoin Operations Team in support of a fast growing, retail bitcoin business

  • Drive financial performance of our rapidly scaling bitcoin business, which includes forging new revenue lines

  • Pursue developing new bitcoin revenue lines in close partnership with product team

  • Own and optimize strategic Bitcoin partnerships for the Cash App through detailed and proactive partner-management, working with partners to define, iterate, stabilize and enable new initiatives and features.

  • Collaborate with Product on roadmap and establish yourself as the key bitcoin operations leader within the Cash App

  • Build, develop and scale the Bitcoin trading operation while deepening / expanding  our liquidity sources

  • Develop and execute on a cold and hot storage custody strategy while mitigating security and financial risks. 

  • Collaborate with partners —both internal and external — to improve points of failures, resolve partner issues, document all critical processes and drive accountability / performance in line with commercials

  • Collaborate across cross functional constituents including the Cash App engineering, design, product, finance, legal, compliance, customer support and risk operations

  • Leverage and analyze multiple sources of data to inform business decision making and optimizations

 

Qualifications

 

  • 15+ years of payments, operations and/or partner management experience, preferably in a fast moving technology or financial services company.  Entrepreneurial drive is key.

  • Experience operating a financial services business including managing financial performance.

  • 3-5+ years of Bitcoin knowledge or experience is a strong plus 

  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry and its current evolution

  • Experience with developing a rapidly scaling business and related operation

  • Exceptionally strong relationship building skills with all organizational levels including leaders and technical teams. Ability to develop consensus and drive stakeholders to a decision

  • Experience with trading operations & asset custody.  Bonus 

  • Prior team development and people management experience.  Distributed workforce experience a plus

  • Deep analytical skills that can drive the development of reporting, tools and other business processes to smooth operations and enable analysis of nascent industry movements

  • Utilizing influence to drive outcomes with internal & external stakeholders. 

  • Experience with developing new revenue streams and negotiating commercial agreements
