Job Description

This role can be based in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA

Square is building the future of food ordering as a part of a broader ecosystem of products to help businesses grow. We are looking for an entrepreneurial General Manager in one of our most important markets.  The Pacific Northwest General Manager is an extraordinarily talented individual who will lead the way as we expand in the PNW. You'll define the local strategy using data-driven insights, lead a team of sales, marketing, account management and operations managers to execute and ultimately be responsible for P&L results.  You'll also make key personnel decisions, scale operations, generate new business through local BD efforts and influence our product roadmap and our national strategy. Consider yourself the CEO of the territory.

You will:

  • Serve as the CEO for the PNW market and be fully responsible for the top-line and bottom-line results of the market

  • Define the winning local strategy and execute it successfully

  • Be a thought leader for Caviar leadership using data-driven insights and problem solving

  • Develop and inspire a team of sales, operations, account management and marketing managers/leads to deliver on bold growth and service objectives

  • Seek out new business development opportunities within the market (partnerships, co-marketing and sponsorship opportunities)

  • Represent Caviar at local events and with local PR

  • Collaborate and influence cross-functionally to shape our product and national strategy for restaurants, diners and couriers

  • Be scrappy and hands-on: you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get the job done

Qualifications

You have:

  • 6+ years of experience in management consulting, business development and/or operations (an MBA and experience working for a startup are pluses)

  • World-class analytical skills and data-driven decision making

  • Great people skills, experience building exceptional teams and collaborating effectively with cross-functional leaders

  • Strong salesmanship, an entrepreneurial spirit, extreme ownership and a growth mindset

  • A bias for executing quickly and aggressively; you can find a way to get things done

  • A deep love of food and restaurants; enjoys constantly being out in the local food & beverage community

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of your local market

  • Consistently delivers an amazing experience to stakeholders, both internal and external

  • Good product sensibility - thinks deeply about product as a point of leverage, and can provide valuable feedback and insights to product team

  • High tolerance for rejection and the unknown
