Job Description

We’re looking for a Technical Writer and Content Manager to create, edit and maintain technical documentation including specifications, policies, procedures, and user-facing guidance. We’re growing the Square governance team and we want you to contribute to our success. In addition to working directly on documentation, you'll help set the strategy for our technical documentation library and work closely with teams across Square to implement that strategy.

You will:

  • Write clear, concise, and human documentation for Square’s internal and external audiences

  • Develop technical engineer- or auditor-facing documentation as well as executive summaries

  • Democratize the documentation process across stakeholders, sometimes serving as an editor for contributing authors

  • Work with product managers and engineers to shape the entirety of the Square technical documentation library

  • Contribute to internal documentation initiatives

  • Continually improve document quality, organization, and harmonization

Qualifications

You have:

  • Experience working directly with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to help document products and features

  • Experience writing and editing all common forms of technical documentation (procedures, conceptual guides, technical specifications, and tutorials)

  • Experience with structured authoring, along with wiki environments and diagramming tools

  • Ability to identify and address broad content management strategies and also deliver tactical work on individual documents and projects

Even better:

  • Knowledge of information security and related compliance audits such as PCI DSS and SSAE16
