Job Description

OVERVIEW
The Product Owner is responsible for working with business stakeholders to define, develop,
maintain and communicate a product/domain vision and roadmap. The Product Owner will
ensure that the Company’s software systems, delivered by the software engineering teams, meet
defined business objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The essential duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
● Utilize experience and technical knowledge to provide product/domain support and insight to
the business to help make effective decisions.
● Embrace a fast-paced, team environment; collaborate with and seek guidance from Senior
Product Owners and domain team members, as needed.
● Communicate regularly with business stakeholders to understand objectives.
● Plan, maintain and prioritize the product/domain backlog and development work to align with
business goals.
● Define the product vision, support, and contribute to the roadmap for the product/domain.
● Assess value, develop use cases, create and prioritize stories, epics and initiatives to ensure
work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
● Ensure all backlog items ready to work have acceptance criteria and test cases documented.
● Responsible for backlog management at the domain and initiative levels, iteration planning,
and elaboration of the user stories.
● Works closely with Software Engineering Managers and Engineering teams to ensure
understanding and objectives of the backlog priority.
● Proactive role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of
release/sprint goals.
● Work with Engineering teams to define and meet established quarterly objectives and key
results.
● Use research and knowledge to analyze market trends and how it could impact business.
● Provide insight and ideas for innovation.
● Regularly meet with end users for evaluation of product usage, feedback, and to triage any
possible issues or bugs.
● Simultaneously manage multiple products, responsibilities and deadlines with moderate
oversight. 
● Foster engagement between the Engineering teams, stakeholders, and end users.
● Ensure solutions deliver on business requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

● Actively participate in all agile ceremonies.
● Monitor and validate deployments.
● Triage user reported issues and engage with users to resolve.
● Additional responsibilities as assigned.
● Predictable and reliable attendance required.

Qualifications

Education:

● Bachelor’s Degree or some relevant work experience, preferred.

Skills/Specialties:

● Intermediate understanding of a variety of agile methodologies (i.e. Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban).
● Intermediate knowledge of SDLC
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Strong collaboration skills
● Proficient in Jira or other software tools.
● Proficient in writing user stories with acceptance criteria, test cases, requirements, and other artifacts
● Intermediate experience with database queries or willingness and ability to learn

 

Additional Information

Salary Range: 

$75,000-$80,000

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
