Job Description

Sports Innovation Lab is seeking an ambitious and experienced sales executive to drive the growth and profitability of a dynamic young company. The Senior Vice President of Sales will be responsible for building the sales and marketing teams of the organization. He/She will execute strategies for achieving strong revenue targets, capitalize on a powerful network, as well as develop and enhance a growing list of prospective and current clients. Working collaboratively with the leadership team, he/she will lead the sales cycle process from sourcing through closing accounts and immediately take responsibility for scaling this business function. A successful candidate will be a strong, experienced customer-focused leader, with strong knowledge of SaaS business, working closely with executive leaders and exuding a passion for building a customer-centric global organization. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Define & Execute Organizational Sales Strategy:

  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and ensure the retention of current accounts
  • Refine and implement a sales and marketing plan to identify and penetrate target accounts in priority markets
  • Collaborate with leadership team members to create effective sales and marketing tools that clearly and succinctly convey clear and compelling value propositions
  • Identify metrics and implement tasks for proper targeting of Fortune 1000 businesses, future partners, and strategic events across designated geographies
  • Execute lead generation activities to build a robust pipeline of opportunities; update CRM database and ensure mandatory administrative tasks are completed
  • Create a metrics-driven culture including analysis of customer performance, improving efficiencies, refining prospect targeting, strategic account planning, and pipeline analysis
  • Advance opportunities through meetings, presentations, and strategically leveraging co-founders at the proper time

2. Drive Revenue Across a Variety of Targets:

  • Execute systematic contacting with prospects and current clients including related decision-makers based on necessity of Sports Innovation Lab offerings; it will be critical to remain knowledgeable of the status of each account
  • Promote pricing, positioning, and delivery capabilities through a deep understanding of Sports Innovation Lab target markets
  • Prepare quarterly sales & marketing reports showing sales trends, potential revenue, and areas of proposed client base expansion
  • Continuously monitor costs (e.g. travel expenses, event costs, customer travel, etc.) and ensure they stay within budget; propose potential cost savings as recognized
  • 3. Strategic Leadership & Growth Planning:
  • Maintain and further develop a professional, innovative, and empathy-driven image with customers and employees through leading by example
  • Partner with leadership and internal team to refine company strategy and operations
  • Scale client on-boarding and organizational development to drive growth targets
  • Share specific product development feedback based on relationships with industry experts, communication with customers, and market surveillance
  • Recruit and train new hires to drive growth based on market opportunities and company goals
  • As part of the leadership team, own the budgeting, planning, and growth strategies for the expansion of the sales and marketing organization

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be a strong, customer-focused leader, well organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong knowledge of SaaS businesses as well as sales and marketing is desired.

1. Sales Leadership & Expertise:

  • 15+ years of consultative sales experience to senior executives
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of techniques in account targeting, lead generation, deal development, closing, contract and price negotiations, customer relationship management, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting

2. Proven Success:

  • Documented achievement of sales objectives in a variety of distribution structures and product segments

3. Advanced Relationship Skills:

  • Ability to develop strong and lasting partnerships with customers, turning them into company and product advocates willing to speak on our behalf
  • Display personal qualities and professional skills that translate into immediate trust amongst key stakeholders at target accounts

4. Communication & Presentation Skills:

  • Commanding presence indicating vast product, company, competitor, industry, expertise related to B2B or B2C and events business
  • Speaking method and style that naturally highlight big picture value propositions, inspire leadership and innovation, and entice participation and partnership

5. Business Judgment:

  • Understands the Sports Innovation Lab business model and implements sales strategies designed to capitalize on opportunities and reduce competitive threats as they arise
  • Constantly leads by example by way of impeccable integrity and professionalism and exhibits an honest, customer-centric attitude at all times

6. Ownership:

  • Generates and communicates clear priorities, independently drives core activities, effectively incorporates feedback, and takes a personal stake in advancing the Sports Innovation Lab’s mission
