Job Description

As a Director of Research Sales, you will develop business selling Sports Innovation Lab’s products and services with a focus on research subscriptions and solutions for the tech companies profiled in the Sports Innovation Lab platform. You will work closely with our team of analysts covering trends in Quantified Athlete, Smart Venue, Immersive Media, Next-Generation Sponsorship, and Esports to fully understand the segmentation and overall sports tech ecosystem. This collaborative team structure shares market and company intelligence leading to qualified sales opportunities and a consultative approach to selling the value of our platform and services. The position will report to the SVP of Business Development and has the opportunity to contribute to building a world-class sales organization serving the needs of a rapidly growing global sports technology market.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing a robust pipeline of sports tech companies researched by our analysts’ SCOUT reporting methodology and/or profiled in the Sports Innovation lab platform based on established targeting criteria
  • Delivering quantified revenue goals by selling a combination of products and services appropriate for the specific needs of the prospect or existing client
  • Acting as a communications conduit between prospects and clients and Sports Innovation Lab in order to accurately capture the evolving service and product needs of the marketplace

Qualifications

This role requires strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Considerable presentation experience with an emphasis on listening and identifying customer needs is a must. In addition, the ideal candidate has a strong background in the technology and market research/consulting industry and demonstrates curiosity in exploring market trends as well as paying close attention to details of specific companies, products, and services. This individual must have proven success in establishing and managing client expectations, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and working across functional groups. A passion for client and hence our company success is paramount.

Specific job requirements include:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in research, technology or a track record of sales success with companies highly relevant to the sports tech ecosystem
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or similar advanced education/career training preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (English verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Highly organized and disciplined in utilizing sales process systems, preferably Salesforce
  • Strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness
  • Self-motivated and proactive in taking on new responsibilities
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a complex, dynamic environment
  • Strong leadership, entrepreneurial attitude and decision-making skills
  • Experience in a start-up or fast paced technology environment desirable
