The Sports Innovation Lab is revolutionizing market research by building a Sports Technology Knowledge Graph that identifies and benchmarks companies, people, industry events, and products to help our members understand what matters most to them and why.
Companies become Lab members to find out what matters most in sports tech, how what matters changes over time, and why it impacts and can innovate their sports technology strategies (fan engagement, venue operations, over-the-top streaming, player and brand sponsorships, injury prevention).
Successful developers at the Sports Innovation Lab are able to rapidly build high quality data driven web applications. The ideal candidate thrives in the fast paced environment of an early stage company and is seeking an opportunity to work closely with the core team in evolving the platform. You will work within a small collaborative team where everyone is expected to take full ownership and contribute to making great products.
Position reports to the CTO.
You work the whole stack - from consuming data APIs to shipping UI.
You have experience with distributed systems and microservices and APIs (experience with Crunchbase, Clearbit, Diffbot APIs are a plus)
You are motivated and want to make a dent in the way we deliver research and like to be in a fast moving startup with everything that entails
You have experience working at a technology company delivering web and API based software
You’re familiar with JAMstack and built hyper-dynamic sites using Go/Hugo or Ruby/Middleman and deployed on hosting service like Netlfiy or Heroku (and know the differences between them)
Maybe you’ve built a Slack bot or two?
Your experience with Ruby is a plus (for now …)
You have at least a hobbyist-level relationship with data. You find that moment when a datapoint makes you say "hmmm..." to be delightful.
You have experience working with several different teams and disciplines, both within product and research.
You have an understanding of data modeling patterns (state vs event-based, data warehousing) and data pipelining (dataflow, ETL, storage) using modern Cloud-based ETL/ELT tools (we’re using Matillion) and underlying AWS tech (S3, Lambda, SQS, etc.)
You have experience with git, continuous integration and continuous deployment workflows
You have solved complex technical challenges to improve productivity, efficiency and velocity
You are experienced with cloud technologies and development tools like Amazon Web Services (S3, Lambda, SQS, etc).
Familiarity with both version control (git)
You care about the people you work with. We all benefit from helping each other work smarter and faster. We want someone who will both offer and request candid critique and is invested in the success of their colleagues.
You are detailed and thorough. There is no better measure of quality than small details done well.
You are inventive and curious. You want to get better. You should be someone who strives to improve with every project.
All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
