Job Description
SUMMARY
The Director of Supply Chain & Operations is responsible for Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory, Cost Controls, and associated Business Operations and related activities in support of Spencer’s global scale. This shall include managing day-to-day transactions, process capability development, process improvement initiatives, tools, and personnel that enable proper functioning of the Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities to Include: Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Service, Forward & Reverse Logistics, Fulfillment, Inventory / Supplier / Cost Controls
- Demonstrate Operational and Supply Chain efficiency and excellence against SHS Quality, Service, and Cost objectives
- Build an operational capability that meets business needs and can surge and pivot as business needs evolve.
- Deploy best practices and processes to support goals aimed at improvement in logistics costs, delivery schedules, and inventory availability.
- Optimize and sustain global supply chains and value streams to support clinical, commercial, and home-care operations.
- Work collaboratively as part of a fast-moving team, to deliver Programs, Projects, and Products per the QMS and applicable regulations and standards.
- Grow a strategic partner bench of Operational partners to meet SHS business Objectives and sustain supplier performance per the SHS QMS.
- Manage and work directly with third-party contractors, contract manufacturers, and strategic partners to keep them focused and accountable to deadlines, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Drive core strategic initiatives and quarterly Priority projects with relevant groups and partners, creating an effective environment for exchanges and decisions on both near and long-term directions.
- Manage strategic partnerships and key Projects with both Suppliers and Customers.
- Provide summary reports and dashboards, including achievements, upcoming milestones, schedule blockers, and escalation points.
- Present scenarios, options, and tradeoffs that enable efficient evaluation of alternate options for delivering results.
- Implement practices, tools, KPIs, and associated SOPS to enable best-in-class Inventory Management; Fulfillment and Logistics; Order to Cash; Material Planning; Purchasing Controls; Cost Controls; Traceability; Configuration Control, and Customer Experience.
- Management oversight over multiple direct reports, being able to assign work, oversee performance, and inspire personal development
REQUIREMENTS
- 15+ years of experience in relevant Operations Leadership roles
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science or Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managing Operations (or equivalent) in a medical or pharmaceutical-regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage Global Operations and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to deploy tools that improve Automation of Workflows, Traceability of Product, and Accountability
- Experience collaborating to synthesize complex ideas, information, and options into a strategy, plan, or response.
- Effective communicator who can translate Concepts and Ideas into detailed Plans.
- Exemplary attention to detail, with the capability to identify prescriptive actions and offer specific guidance.
- Ability to motivate teams while keeping them accountable, without always having direct reporting oversight.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; bias towards making decisions grounded in data.
- Strong demonstrated negotiating skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Travel: Global travel up to 25%
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, science or Engineering discipline preferred. MBA or equivalent business program experience.
- Strong healthcare industry experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in a business environment, along with a proven ability to prioritize, organize, and deliver on commitments.
- Demonstrated aptitude in deploying and utilizing ERP tools effectively for Inventory Management; Order to Cash, Purchasing, Order Fulfillment and Product Traceability – NetSuite experience preferred.
- Experience working directly with both marketing and client services/support teams to develop program implementation plans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence and/or direct management.
- Willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to ensure a great customer experience.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
