Job Description

SUMMARY

 The VP Marketing & Business Development will provide strategic leadership for clinical trial service, product development, and business development in the clinical trial markets globally. Specifically, the VP, will oversee the company’s strategy for clinical trial and commercial offerings marketing team, and execute as well as evaluate business development activities for the company’s product and clinical trial services. The VP will be the key interface between the company’s sales, marketing, and business development and the Board of Directors and will be on the Executive Management team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the company’s clinical trial and commercial strategies for its product and service offerings.
  • Oversee and manage clinical trial studies, product marketing, and business development initiatives and manage with deep analytical and key performance indicator metrics for strategy, forecast, and market initiatives.
  • Lead Business Development for all targeting, deal strategy, and proposal development support related to therapeutics for targeted disease trials, including supporting strategic development for other therapeutic areas of focus as appropriate
  • Responsible for development and improvement in the pricing and related strategies that create excellent value to return ratios for both Spencer Health and customers.
  • Assists with improvements to target market algorithms and selling tools required to acquire new customers
  • Reviews RFPs, assesses monitoring strategies and resources to support budget development
  • Serves as liaison with Clinical Trial Management (CTM) and Commercial Pharma Patient support colleagues globally to ensure continuity throughout global RFPs and Business Development opportunities
  • Participates in the recruitment, retention, and ongoing professional development of Marketing staff when requested
  • Liaises with other departments to ensure the success of all project initiatives related to RFPs and Business Development needs
  • Develops and fosters relationships with existing and potential clients and key distributor partners
  • Maintains strong knowledge of major events and challenges in drug development and provides instruction to team members and managers on those issues as well as training for the respective area of focus
  • Ability to perform up to 45% overnight business travel (domestic and international)
  • Public speaking and presentation development
  • Extensive understanding of the clinical trial market, decentralized trials, and patient-centricity as a component of disease research
  • Extensive understanding of the market environment for research including patient/family/caregiver centricity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Qualifications

EDUCATION, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's degree, or its international equivalent from an accredited institution, in a clinical, scientific, or health-related field. Preferably a master’s degree in marketing
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of clinical research experience with at least three (3) years in a CRO or pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience in designing and/or managing clinical trials in populations
  • Global clinical trials experience in managing clinical resources
  • Proven people manager with the ability to guide staff through major changes, encourage teamwork and develop team capabilities
  • Experience in public speaking and ability to represent Spencer Health at conferences/round tables/symposiums
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, scientific, technical, and clinical expertise in the conduct of clinical trials in rare diseases and pediatric populations as demonstrated by past related positions in the CRO and Pharma/Biotech sector
  • Has a consultative communication and collaboration approach to the implementation of the project plan with the team and the customer
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
