Job Description

Data Scientists at Spencer Health Solutions analyze data generated by our fleet of health smart hubs to improve operational performance and make the most of the collected patient data. Predictive modeling opportunities abound in Sales, Marketing, HR, etc. and will be part of future projects. Employees in this role may also engage in data engineering activities and contribute to data and modeling infrastructure. Spencer Health Solutions Data Scientists also work on research projects for conferences and white papers as the need arises.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn how systems at Spencer Health Solutions work and generate data
  • Query the database for various analytical needs including to create data sets for modeling
  • Create statistical graphics that illuminate the state of the business
  • Build statistical models where they are appropriate
  • Assist in research tasks and occasionally present at conferences
  • Be a good corporate citizen; participate in discussions, attend and host meetings as necessary.
  • Be prepared to travel to Morrisville, NC once a month if working remotely

Qualifications

Given the abundance of paths for learning data science, there are no required minimum qualifications. However, we consider the following achievements when hiring for our Data Science roles.

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or other analytical field
  • Experience with using SQL to query corporate relational databases
  • Experience with open-source programming languages (e.g., R or Python)
  • GitHub projects, especially those demonstrating collaboration with other developers
  • Data science contest awards (e.g., a Kaggle “medals”)
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute job functions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
