Job Description

As the Learning & Development Manager, you will focus on designing, conducting and organizing training programs to improve employee performance and to ensure organizational productivity. The position is responsible for the advancing the skills and knowledge of Spencer’s employee base by implementing new internal training programs that align people strategies with business goals. This newly created role will work collaboratively across the organization to establish meaningful and effective learning experiences that build capabilities and leadership competencies in a decentralized (hybrid) work environment. The Learning & Development Manager will implement learning strategy and measure effectiveness of employee development efforts. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and should be passionate about helping people learn and grow. This position will report to the Head of Talent Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Creates learning programs and development experiences that support strategic direction of the business
  • Oversees implementation of new learning programs by creating content, including lesson plans, learning objectives and instructional material
  • Supports the daily operation, use and configuration of Spencer’s Talent LMS, including user enrollment and course management
  • Developing e-learning materials
  • Plans, organizes and facilitates employee development and training events both virtual and in-person
  • Develops and maintains internal communications related to talent development
  • Measures effectiveness of learning programs and applies employee feedback for continuous improvement
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for internal training, management and other stakeholders coaching on employee development efforts
  • Builds and maintains relationships with third-party training vendors, including tracking budgets and negotiating contracts
  • Support special projects and initiatives that contribute to the operational effectiveness of the talent management function

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years professional experience in employee development and learning technologies
  • Expertise with Learning Management Systems (LMS) required; experience with HRIS (Paylocity preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to build strong and successful relationships in a decentralized environment (hybrid)
  • Ability to achieve objectives without formal authority
  • Ability to cultivate trust with stakeholders across the organization
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal, confident and articulate presenter, active listener
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of varying audiences
  • Ability to prioritize task as the subject matter expert (SME) and adapt to ambiguity in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superior organization skills
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute job functions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
