Job Description

As the Director of Operations, you will focus on driving operational efficiency across the company working cross-functionally with department leaders including, but not limited to, engineering, quality, sales, manufacturing, and purchasing, to deliver organizational efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have operational expertise working in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industries in a high growth company.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead production related processes and staff in the development and execution of world-class operational performance.
  • Develop programs, projects, goals, and metrics to lead the manufacturing organization to optimize operational performance.
  • Develop policies, practices, and procedures that allow for efficient identification and resolution of production problems. 
  • Oversee development of new processes, and technologies needed to achieve a lean production model.
  • Work locally and with a 3rd party contract manufacturer to process materials in development and/or production of devices including ordering, expediting, labeling, inventorying, and issuing parts, supplies, and materials. 
  • Coordinate the timely, efficient, and cost-effective shipment and receipt of materials, equipment, and supplies for all functional areas.
  • Maintain well-organized stockroom and product quarantine areas with appropriate segregation of all levels of materials. 
  • Maintain and monitor inventory levels in accordance with the JIT philosophy.
  • Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures 
  • Track and publish production performance metrics, i.e. cycle time, scrap rate, yields, outgoing quality, process non-conformances, OEE, inventory, corrective actions, and safety.
  • Manage and execute cost reduction productivity plans.
  • Deliver products on time meeting delivery, quality and cost requirements. Ensure there is an optimum production process with regards to equipment, manpower levels, and sub-assembly materials flow. 
  • Accountable for compliance of manufacturing operations with specifications, SOPs, domestic and international regulations, EPA regulations, ISO guidelines, and NDAs.
  • Assure that all finished product meets specifications for release. Improve product quality and cost and reduce customer complaints through a proactive program that includes interaction with internal and external vendors.
  • Utilize collective data from customers to enhance product quality.
  • Assess product/process changes to ensure quality has been maintained. 
  • Establish and maintain an environment that encourages teamwork and promotes employee safety. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Operations leadership role with multi-discipline responsibilities (Production, Purchasing, etc.) in the medical device industry.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and international medical device manufacturing regulations required.
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or electronic inventory management systems.
  • Ability to manage activities of the department.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze statistical data and financial reports, understand and resolve technical difficulties, interface with internal engineering/technical experts and external technical representatives, and manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills are required. 
  • Six Sigma certification and supervisory skills considered a plus.
  • Creative and self-motivated individual.
