Job Description

SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Manager oversees all aspects of financial statement preparation and reporting, revenue cycle, and accounts payable, and provides partnership/financial support to the cross-functional leaders of the Company. This finance professional leads accounting and operational initiatives within the company, enforces integrity of accounting procedures, and develops and oversees the accounting team (two plus persons). The position will report to the CFO.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the administration of financial systems and the activities of accounting staff including, but not limited to, general ledger, financial reporting, customer billing and collections [online retail, distributor and third-party contract], payroll processing, balance sheet management, inventory analysis and costing, and accounts payable
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all corporate financial reporting, including internal and external financial reports and analyses, and that Company financial records are maintained compliance with Company policies and directives
  • Perform month-end financial close activities including analyzing balance sheet accounts and departmental P&L statements and financial data; interface with internal and external stakeholders to identify critical requirements and provide timely information to support robust decision making
  • Direct the annual budget and forecast process in a manner aligned with the Company’s short and long term goals
  • Determine appropriate accounting methodologies ensuring compliance with GAAP and business processes (including but not limited to, revenue recognition, inventory valuation, and cost accounting, and foreign currency exchange)
  • Oversee financial contract deal review in tandem with Operations, Legal and Sales to facilitate structuring of appropriate accounting/tax/reporting provisions and facilitate revenue recognition on a GAAP basis (i.e. new deals, renewals, and promotional deals).
  • Administer and processes payroll through Paychex on a semi-monthly schedule, including onboarding of new hires and adjustments to payroll as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strong internal controls
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and direct action items as appropriate
  • Validate, implement, and maintain new accounting and operations software system (ERP) to ensure accounting requirements are met
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and lead initiatives to recommend and implement change to drive efficiencies or increase scalability of processes.
  • Manage employee travel and expense reporting in Concur
  • Effectively manage accounting staff by ensuring high motivation, professional growth, and the ability to take responsibility for their work
  • Supervise the completion of Federal and State tax reporting (including income, property, sales and use, payroll, and other local taxes), insurance reports, and other reports required by government regulation

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA
  • 7+ years of growing responsibility experience in accounting/finance preferably including experience in public accounting and in a technology and/or manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, SOX internal controls, and financial reporting (including foreign currency reporting)
  • Experience in ERP implementation and maintenance; preferably NetSuite
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple departments to achieve organizational goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent accounting and presentation skills (specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications)
  • Highest standards of personal and professional integrity
