Job Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for providing systems, benefits and employee relations support throughout the Spear ecosystem. The objective is to retain A Players and enable all team members to achieve their goals while maintaining an engaged and productive workforce.  

    Role Summary: 

    Employee Relations

    • Participate in the employee/employer relationship to maintain an engaged and productive workforce
    • Handle employee situations with a focus on conflict resolution in a fast-paced environment
    • Counsel and advise managers in interpreting and applying policies and procedures to resolve issues

    Benefits Administration

    • Act as a liaison between the Company and its vendors for employee benefits including 401k, health insurance, dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, and health spending accounts.
    • Provide support for benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness and communicating benefits information to employees.
    • Provide support to employees and managers in various HR related topics such as leaves of absence, benefits, etc.
    • Research benefits policies and plans to ensure the organization’s offerings are current, cost effective, and competitive.

     HRIS

    • Understand HRIS system (includes setup, support, timekeeping, employee files, talent planning and compensation)
    • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
    • Maintains employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
    • Create executive level presentations around business case
    • Design and prepare reports summarizing research and analysis, including total compensation/rewards statements.
    • Maintain company organizational charts and the employee directory.
    • Design and prepare reports summarizing research and analysis, including total compensation/rewards statements.
    • Complete special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or similar discipline required
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an HR Generalist role at a company of comparable size and complexity as Spear Education required
    • Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills
    • Advanced Certification such as SPHR or PHR desirable
    • Expert knowledge of employment law
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Unbeatable listening, verbal and written communications skills
