About the role
The SPANX Digital team operates spanx.com, a Shopfiy Headless storefront (Hydrogen), that is responsible for entire experience purchasing SPANX products directly from us.  We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) who thrives at the intersection of architecture, execution, and mentorship — someone who can drive high-impact initiatives, simplify complex systems, and elevate those around them. 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on individual contributor who can see around corners, design for scale and maintainability, and guide teams through ambiguous challenges with clarity and empathy. They’ll balance coding strategically in mission-critical areas with mentoring and leading their pod technically. As a Staff Engineer at SPANX, you’ll shape both the systems we build and the engineering culture that builds them.   

Spanx.com is a server-side React website that uses TypeScript and Remix, hosted on Shopify’s Oxygen serverless infrastructure, and uses Shopify APIs and Sanity CMS as its “database.”  Behind the scenes the team operates additional services in Azure to help enrich our customer’s experience with loyalty and similar programs. 

This role is 100% remote with occasional travel to our Atlanta headquarters, and reports to the Director of Engineering, Digital.  We expect candidates to be able to work “Core Hours,” defined as 9am – 5pm Eastern US time, in order to ensure everyone is able to collaborate.

We require…  

• 10+ years of building consumer-facing web experiences 
• 3+ years full stack development experience centering on React.JS and TypeScript 
• Experience working with Remix or Next.js is a plus 
• Knowledge of e-commerce is a plus 
• Experience working from home is a plus 
• Azure experience is a plus 
• Shopify Hydrogen experience is a plus 
• NodeJS experience is a plus 
• Experience with Scrum, past scrum master training is a plus
