Job Description
As part of the team at our customers site, they are seeking an EMC Engineer with relevant expertise in EMC Design, Control, and Verification, preferably within the Space sector with the following responsibilities :
- Lead and autonomously perform all activities related to ensuring Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) at system, sub-system, and equipment levels
- Design, analyze, simulate, and evaluate EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) aspects throughout the spacecraft lifecycle
- Define and assess mitigation strategies and methodologies for EMC/ESD effects from early design phases through integration, testing, and launch
- Apply a foundational understanding of spacecraft charging effects induced by the space environment
- Produce comprehensive EMC/ESD documentation, including:
- System, sub-system, and equipment specifications
- EMC/ESD control plans
- Test planning and procedures
- Test reports and technical analyses
- Perform EMC troubleshooting in laboratory environments, supporting pre‑compliance and compliance testing
- Conduct and support testing activities in accordance with ECSS and/or MIL standards
- Support AIT/AIV activities, with particular emphasis on EMC testing
- Assess and validate the adequacy of EMC test setups during integration and verification phases
Qualifications
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
- University degree from a recognised Institution of secondary studies or equivalent qualification with relevant experience;
- At least 3 years of experience on the requested discipline
- Experience with EMC System level analysis focused on system level requirements and specifications (equipment design, unit testing, launcher site compatibility, EGSE, etc.)
- Experience with EMC analyses either for conducted or radiated EMI cases
- Capability to draft and evaluate documentation pertaining to EMC verification tests at equipment, subsystem and system level
- Full autonomy in using Instrumentation for Electrical and EMC testing (e.g. frequency and time domain, emission and susceptibility tests)
- Familiarity with Space Standards (e.g. ECSS-E-ST-20-07C/-20-06C, MIL-STD-461G)
- Good attitude towards teaming and multi-disciplinary approaches
- Experience with Institutional Programs in the Space Field
- Full comprehensive capability of Windows Office package
- Sound knowledge of electromagnetic theory and radio-frequency signal propagation theory
- 3D Full Wave electromagnetic simulation (CST®, Ansys, FEKO etc.) including coupling, crosstalk evaluation and RFC (radio frequency compatibility)
- External/internal charging analyses, ESD-risk assessment and mitigation strategies evaluation and modelling
- Fluency in English and Italian is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
