Job Description

Role Purpose

The Head of Product & Technical Consultancy leads a specialist team that bridges product capability, technology, and client needs. Shaping scalable solutions, guiding complex design decisions, and ensuring consultancy outputs accelerate successful delivery and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Product & Technical Consultancy function.
  • Set clear priorities, ways of working, quality standards, and performance expectations.
  • Build capability across product knowledge, architecture, integration patterns, and delivery methods.

Product & Technical Advisory

  • Responsible for the consultancy approach for product and technical design across all client engagements.
  • Provide technical governance and oversight across solution design, integration, configuration, and customisation.
  • Translate business requirements into product-led, technically feasible designs and roadmaps.
  • Ensure designs align to platform strategy, baseline configuration, and long-term maintainability.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Act as a senior client-facing leader, supporting technical credibility, influencing decisions, and de-risking delivery.
  • Partner with Business Consulting, PS Delivery, QA/Testing, Support/Service, Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Support commercial efforts where needed (RFPs, bids, shaping, scoping, estimates).

Standards, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement repeatable consulting assets, templates, patterns, accelerators, and reusable approaches.
  • Drive continuous improvement based on delivery outcomes, defects, and client feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, documentation discipline, and technical best practice.

Success Measures (KPIs)

  • Reduced delivery risk and improved quality through stronger design assurance.
  • Increased baseline adoption / reduced unnecessary customisation.
  • Improved client satisfaction for design and technical decision making.
  • Stronger cross-team alignment between Product, Engineering, and PS Delivery.
  • Improved team capability and utilisation.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in Product Consultancy / Technical Consultancy / Solutions Architecture within a software organisation.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise solution delivery including integrations, APIs, data migration, environments, and release processes.
  • Track record of leading discovery and design phases for complex client implementations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior internal and client leadership.
  • Comfortable operating across strategy and detail, able to dive deep when needed.

Desirable

  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services).
  • Familiarity with core banking / lending / savings platforms (where relevant).
  • Experience shaping consulting “packages” or repeatable propositions.

Additional Information

Salary Range: 90,000£ - 100,000£/year

Hybrid work : Need to be in the office 2-3 days a week in either London or Sheffield.
