Job Description
● Install, monitor and & maintain optimum performance of UNIX and Linux systems (Hardware & Software) in virtual and physical environments.
● Monitor everyday systems and evaluate availability of all server resources and perform all activities for Linux servers.
● Resolve incidents and perform problem analysis on OS level.
● Customize and maintain OS image according to incident findings / new functionalities.
● Responsible for monitoring and assessing potential impact of local and global events.
● Test and deploy OS image on full environment and Develop new functionalities on GNOME desktop.
● Perform admin activities on virtual desktops and maintenance of OS level scripts and toolset.
● Maintain all system backup and assist to restore all procedures and provide required training to all users.
● Assist to configure and deploy all virtual machines.
● Install and provide backup to all configuration procedures.
● Maintain and monitor all patch releases and design various patch installation strategies and maintain all systems according to NIST standardization.
● Maintain the approved ML patches & assist in performing audit on all security processes.
● Design and maintain system tools for all scripts and automation processes and monitor all capacity planning.
● Assist in software integration at the OS level.
● Design required enterprise servers and provide backup support.
● Participate in PI planning workshops, scrum meetings and operational team meetings.
● Act as an intercultural “bridge” between Europe and India.
● Agree and ensure SLA/OLA (incident, problem and request management).
● Ability to prepare, maintain and analyse service reports to address any possible delays/issues before it occurs.
● Definition and implementation/extension of monitoring environments (basic and predictive)
● In a crisis, be responsible for logging and reporting on the sequence of events
● He/She shall be willing to work in European Shift Times (upto 10.30 PM IST in Summer and 11.30 PM IST in winter.)
● Willingness to work 24*7 environment in shifts
Total Experience Expected: 04-06 years
Qualifications
Graduate/Post Graduate 3 to 6 years of experience as a Linux platform analyst with experience of performing server subsystem configuration, network management, installation of software, performing backups, configuration management, and general system maintenance.
Mandatory expert knowledge fields:
● Operating System: RHEL-7, RHEL-5
● Experience on installing, administering and managing GNOME desktop and KDE.
● Strong knowledge on ANSIBLE, Puppet, RedHat Satellite
● Proficient in scripting languages: Python, Perl, Shell, Bash
● Data storage technologies: LVM, SCSL, SATA, Ext 2, NAS, and SAN, NetApp Storage..
● Experience working in cluster environments (e.g. HPC)
● Capability to understand and deliver Linux / UNIX solutions on virtual and physical servers.
● Strong experiences in NFSV3+ V4, Kerberos, ACLs, DNS
● Proficient in designing and implementing monitoring solutions like Patrol, Splunk, Zabbix, HP BSM etc.
● Strong understanding of ActiveDirectory and LDAP architecture principles and best practice adaptations in the Linux world (Quest VASD, SSSD knowledge highly desirable).
● Good understanding of the HA best practices.
● Good knowledge about Jenkins and DevOps best practices
Highly recommended knowledge:
● Knowledge on Resource management tools like LSF or PBS is highly desirable
● Knowledge on Starfish products would be highly rated as a plus
● Knowledge of the Monitoring best practices on OS platforms, Middleware, Network, Storage, AWS
● Understanding of the cloud based principles of AWS.
● Hardware compatibility understanding on: DELL (power edge), HP (ProLiant G9, G10), IBM Blade centre, Sun Fire X & T-series enterprise servers.
● Creation of the OS Image templates for VDI deployments.
● Development skills in one higher programming language FORTRAN, C, C++, Java
● RDBMS: Oracle, My SQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo DB & MS SQL server.Service Now for incident and problem management, Version One.
● Knowledge on Agile/ SAFe principle and Service Management best practices.
● ITIL, certification is highly desirable.
● Ability to shift between domains and multi-skills experience is highly desirable.
● Willingness to travel for long & short term to Europe
● Knowledge of Aerospace domain, especially in functional design domains like scientific computing, overall aircraft design & systems (desirable but not mandatory).
