POSITION SUMMARY

The Counter Parts Associate is responsible for providing professional and knowledgeable customer service while supporting the daily operations of the Parts Department. This position assists customers with parts and accessory needs, processes sales transactions, answers incoming calls, supports inventory control, and maintains an organized and efficient parts counter.

The Counter Parts Associate is expected to provide a consistently positive customer experience while demonstrating accuracy, attention to detail, product knowledge, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced dealership environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exceptional customer service to retail customers, technicians, and dealership personnel.
  • Greet customers and assist with parts, accessories, merchandise, and product-related inquiries.
  • Look up parts using dealership parts catalogs, electronic systems, and other available resources.
  • Process and track customer parts orders, including checking availability, pricing, and order status.
  • Accurately process sales, returns, exchanges, and other customer transactions.
  • Operate the dealership point-of-sale/cashiering system and accurately handle cash and credit-card transactions.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist customers or direct calls to the appropriate department.
  • Receive, verify, organize, stock, and maintain incoming parts and merchandise.
  • Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and professional parts counter and customer-facing area.
  • Ensure accuracy when handling part numbers, quantities, pricing, customer orders, and transactions.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, technicians, sales personnel, management, and other dealership departments.
  • Maintain knowledge of Harley-Davidson parts, accessories, merchandise, and dealership procedures.
  • Multi-task and prioritize responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and customer service standards.
  • Assist with dealership events, special events, and extended business hours as required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Parts Department management.

Qualifications

  • Previous customer service, retail, cashiering, automotive, powersports, or parts experience preferred.
  • Harley-Davidson or powersports parts knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer and point-of-sale system proficiency.
  • Ability to learn dealership systems, parts catalogs, inventory procedures, and product information.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

PHYSICAL & SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to regularly lift and move parts and merchandise weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical activities associated with stocking and organizing inventory.
  • Must be available to work weekends, extended hours, and dealership event hours based on business needs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail and dealership environment.
