Job Description
The System Support Specialist – Lab Support is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to the engineering laboratory, ensuring that hardware, software, and lab infrastructure remain operational and available for validation and product development teams.
- Provide day-to-day system support and troubleshooting for lab computers, test stations, servers, and network equipment.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Linux, Windows) on lab machines and test platforms.
- Administer lab servers, storage systems, and virtual machines used for test automation and data collection.
- onitor system health, disk space, and resource utilization; proactively address potential issues before they impact engineering productivity.
- Document lab procedures, system configurations, and known issue resolutions in Confluence or equivalent knowledge base.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure lab systems comply with security policies, patch management, and access control requirements.
- Provide technical support to lab users and escalate complex issues to appropriate engineering or IT teams.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining automated test frameworks and pipelines within the lab environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Customers support, systems administration, or lab support in a hardware/engineering environment.
- Advanced English level.
- Proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) and Windows operating systems — installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with server hardware, PCIe/NVMe devices, or storage systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with networking concepts: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and basic switch/router configuration.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, VirtualBox) and containerization (Docker).
- Scripting skills in Bash or Python for automation of routine tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced lab environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Availability to provide after-hours support during weekends or holidays in the event of critical system outages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hardware validation labs in the semiconductor, storage, or SSD industry.
- Familiarity with NVMe, PCIe, SATA, or SAS storage protocols.
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks (pytest, Jenkins, or similar).
- Experience with IPMI, iDRAC, or other remote management tools for servers.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for ticket tracking and documentation.
