About the Opportunity
The Divisional Controller is the senior accounting and financial reporting leader for a division of Solaris Energy Infrastructure. This role directs the divisional accounting group and oversees financial operations and reporting for the division. The Divisional Controller ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting, drives integration into Solaris’ corporate accounting policies and systems, and partners closely with segment and corporate finance leadership. This position reports to the Segment Controller, SPS.
Essential Functions
Accounting Operations & Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the division accounting group, including general ledger, project accounting, international accounting, consolidations, accounts payable, accounts receivable/billing, payroll coordination, and period-end close.
- Set priorities, workflows, and performance expectations for accounting staff; recruit, train, and mentor team members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for accounting matters across operations, coordinating with local finance staff, external accountants, or third-party providers as needed.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements incorporating both domestic and international entities, ensuring proper treatment of intercompany transactions, foreign currency translation, and multi-entity consolidation.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable local statutory and tax requirements in each international jurisdiction.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls (SOX or SOX-readiness where applicable) across all locations.
Integration & Systems
- Lead integration of accounting processes, chart of accounts, and systems into Solaris’ financial reporting platform and reporting cadence.
- Lead integration of system improvement projects
- Identify and remediate gaps between divisional accounting practices and Solaris corporate accounting policy.
- Partner with IT and corporate accounting on ERP implementation, process standardization, and reporting automation.
Business Partnership & Analysis
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to division and segment leadership to support operating decisions.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for division.
- Coordinate with tax, treasury, and legal teams on cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and entity-level compliance matters.
External Relationships
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors on related audit work.
- Manage relationships with in-country accounting/tax advisors supporting international sites.
Travel Requirements
- Frequent domestic travel.
- Passport required for international travel, as needed.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior people-management responsibility.
- Demonstrated familiarity with foreign currency translation, intercompany eliminations, and cross-border tax/compliance considerations.
- Experience managing multi-entity or multi-location accounting, including at least one international jurisdiction.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and consolidated financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience leading or participating in a close process for a business unit or subsidiary.
