Within Western Australia, Sodexo is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and refurbishment of non-process infrastructure to clients within the mining and oil & gas sector. Sodexo plays a critical role in ensuring the resource sector can operate by providing quality catering, hospitality, and facilities maintenance services.

The main role of an Electrical Engineer is to ensure that electrical systems are safe to operate and capable of continuous operation, as designed/intended. An electrical engineer also performs electrical designs, and reviews and comments on third party design concepts/proposals, identifies possible short-falls, and produces reports outlining risks, and minimum standards to meet statutory, health, safety, environmental, business, and client requirements. The position will have regular ad hoc travel to our client sites across Australia.

What you will be doing

  • Performing inspection, field investigations & surveys.
  • Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and analyzing material costs, quality and quantity.
  • Assisting in developing project standards and specifications.
  • Preparing preliminary and proposed designs from field notes and data files.
  • Performing engineering plans preparation and review
  • Participating in in-depth study projects, working independently on technical engineering assignments and providing support to project and field teams.
  • Providing on-site Technical Electrical Engineering Support to FM Operations teams as required.
  • Providing Sodexo Global Technical Electrical Engineering Support as required.
  • Monitor Maintenance and Inspection Plans, provides guidance and recommendations on Trends to support operations and Assets at the lowest practical cost.
  • Ensuring that Electrical Installations and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications.
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Working with Operations Technicians to facilitate Electrical Best practice standards by supervising and training FM team members as necessary.
  • Assisting with equipment and process troubleshooting to enable FM Operations Teams return assets back to operating state as reasonably as practical, Provide recommendations on repair strategies and improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for the Power Generation and maintenance across both the Prime and Standby Generator Fleet and responsible to ensure Generators are maintained in accordance with relevant standards.

What you will need

  • Tertiary degree as an Electrical Engineer
  • Ability to qualify for membership with the Institution of Engineers Australia.
  • 5 years + experience working as an Electrical Engineer
  • Ability to travel to the Pilbara Region, on an as-needed basis (typically short duration stays, up to few times per month)
