We have an opening for an Indigenous Engagement Manager to join our highly talented and supportive team.

The role sits within the Human Resources function, reporting to the Indigenous Affairs National General Manager and will perform the secretariat duties for the RAP Working Group and the RAP Steering Group in addition to the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan’s priorities.

About the role:

The Indigenous Engagement Manager will contribute to the implementation of Indigenous Cultural matters and will develop and foster collaborative relationships with Traditional Owner groups. The role will require an ability to build positive relationships with key stakeholders from a diverse range of community groups and organisational areas to achieve successful outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the RAP Project Management Plan by supporting the Indigenous Affairs General Manager to establish and implement the governance framework.
  • Contributing to and implementing the RAP secretariat framework for the RAP Working Group and the Executive Steering Committee.
  • Establishing and maintaining RAP aligned partnerships with Indigenous Australians, Native Title Custodians and Traditional Custodian (Owner) groups to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes in accordance with Sodexo’s and our Client’s procedures and policies.
  • Respect and embed culturally safe practices and best practice as BAU.
  • Work with colleagues to provide a team approach to the successful development and implementation of regional projects, strategies and initiatives that support Indigenous economic opportunities and sustainable employment.
  • Actively develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with regional leaders and operational personnel.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to grow the capacity and capabilities of Indigenous people, businesses and community organisations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external RAP program partners to scope, develop and deliver targeted RAP programs within the required timeframes.

  • Manage the development and implementation of guidance materials and tools relevant to our Client’s needs and that allows Sodexo to achieve its obligations and social responsibilities.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends and issues to identify opportunities for improvement and to establish Sodexo as a leader in addressing Indigenous Affairs matters.
  • Develop and facilitate training session to educate non-Indigenous staff about how to interact with and support their Indigenous colleagues.
  • Liaising with all operation teams regularly to identify service delivery/scope improvement opportunities.
  • Collate, compile, and distribute reports relevant to Sodexo’s RAP, both to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively participates in Sodexo’s performance development process and pursues professional development opportunities.
  • Support the team as required in relevant Indigenous Affairs activities as part of a pro-active, cross functional and agile team.
  • Undertake travel to site(s) as directed or approved by the Indigenous Affairs National General Manager

Qualifications

About you

You will be a self-starter, used to working in a fast-paced high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will have:

Experience

  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication, analytical and liaison skills.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience or background in similar services environment.
  • Experience or background in working with JV Partners, Indigenous people and businesses.
  • Demonstrated acute interpersonal skills, a positive approach to prompt and responsive service delivery and managing expectations of staff, partners, and community.
