About the role

As a result of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Chefs looking for the next step in their career to join our team in the Bowen Basin at Byweren Village. The successful Chef will be rostered 14 days on, 7 days off and will need to be able to cover diner and breakfast shifts.

This is a full time ‘Drive in, Drive out’ role, and all candidates must be based in the Townsville/Mackay Region and surrounding areas. Candidates in local remote communities such as Collinsville, Glenden and surrounds are highly regarded.

The responsibilities of the Chef will include but are not limited to the follow:

  • Hands-on service for bulk and buffet style cooking which will include preparing, cooking and presenting meals for breakfast, dinner, crib and pastries
  • Ensuring the kitchen is HSEQ compliant, following HACCP procedures and safe work practices
  • Supporting the Head Chef and Village Managers to ensure a strong focus on quality of service which meets Sodexo’s and our client’s expectations
  • On occasion, assist in setting up functions requested

About you

To be successful in this role you must meet the below criteria:

  • Have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  • Previous experience bulk cooking/high volume catering in a remote environment or mining camp
  • Solid knowledge and understating of HACCP procedures and safe work practices
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and apart of a team in a busy environment
  • Open to change and challenges of working in various camp kitchens
  • A strong commitment to high standards of customer service, integrity and safety always
  • Ability to build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to cover shifts from 9am to 9pm or 9pm to 9am or as rostered and required

Qualifications

  • Cert III in Commercial Cookery, and
