About the job

Sodexo is currently seeking suitably qualified Activity Coordinator for Weipa Town Services to manage the Aquatic Centre, Storm Surge Shelter, Hibberd Library and miscellaneous venues.

Working a Monday to Friday roster, all suitable candidates must be willing to relocate, in the process of relocating or currently live in Weipa and surrounding areas. Shared accomodation is available should it be required.  

Reporting to the Town Services Manager, your main responsibilities will consist of coordinating the use of allocated venues within the township of Weipa, prepare and propose recreational programs, and adhere set budgets as well as provide support in budget approvals. The Activity Coordinator is expected to promote and facilitate recreational programs including but not limited to community relation campaigns which encourage fitness, cultural events and competitions. They will also need to coordinate all cleaning and venue hire programs and activities. There will be a requirement to be contactable by telephone outside of general business hours, as required.

About you

You must have a genuine interest in driving local community initiatives with previous experience in coordinating youth activities and community events, pool maintenance, rostering staff, budgeting and administration. It is important to have strong communication and time management skills and possess a high level of computer literacy, specifically Microsoft Office. You must have outstanding customer service skills and be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

It is a requirement of this role to possess as a minimum a Certificate IV in Fitness, Pool Operations Certificate, Lifeguard Qualification, and current C class manual licence coupled with a positive can-do attitude. You must be willing to obtain, if not already possess, a Blue Card and current CPR & First Aid Certificate.
