The successful candidate will ideally have approximately two years of experience working with a general contractor, construction manager, specialty contractor, or similar construction organization, with direct exposure to developing, updating, and managing construction schedules.

The role will support projects across the building and infrastructure sectors and will work closely with senior schedulers, project controls professionals, project managers, and technical experts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of detailed construction project schedules.
  • Develop and update Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules based on project scope, construction sequencing, and contractor work plans.
  • Support preparation of baseline schedules, schedule updates, recovery schedules, and short-term look-ahead schedules.
  • Review contractor schedule submissions for completeness, logic, sequencing, durations, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and incorporate actual progress into schedule updates.
  • Identify critical and near-critical activities, schedule constraints, and potential impacts to project milestones.
  • Assist with analysis of schedule variances and changes to the critical path.
  • Work with project teams to collect schedule information, progress data, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in preparing schedule narratives, progress reports, schedule graphics, and management presentations.
  • Support schedule impact assessments and preliminary delay analyses under the direction of senior scheduling and claims professionals.
  • Assist with evaluating change orders and potential time impacts.
  • Review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, contracts, progress reports, RFIs, submittals, and change documentation, to understand project sequencing and schedule impacts.
  • Participate in project meetings and schedule review meetings with clients, contractors, designers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support broader project controls activities, including progress measurement, reporting, cost and schedule integration, and project performance analysis.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation supporting schedule updates and analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Approximately 2 or more years of relevant construction industry experience, preferably working for a general contractor, construction manager, or specialty contractor.
  • Practical experience developing or maintaining construction schedules.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, project milestones, and the relationship between design, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Basic understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and analyze project information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

Preferred

  • Experience using Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or other scheduling/project controls software.
  • Experience working on commercial buildings, healthcare, higher education, transportation, infrastructure, or other complex construction projects.
  • Exposure to schedule review, delay analysis, change-order evaluation, or construction claims.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or interest in pursuing professional certification is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has started their career working directly within the construction industry and understands how projects are actually planned and built. They have had hands-on exposure to construction scheduling and are interested in developing deeper expertise in project controls, schedule analysis, and construction advisory.

This position is particularly well suited to someone who has spent the first few years of their career with a contractor or construction manager and is interested in transitioning into a consulting environment where they can work across multiple projects, clients, and construction sectors.
