Job Description

SOCOTEC has an immediate opening for a Graduate (Staff) Geotechnical Engineer in Houston, Texas.

  • Coordinate and schedule geotechnical subsurface evaluations
  • Perform boring mark-outs for utility clearance and supervise drill rig crews
  • Classify soils and log borings, test pits, and cores
  • Conduct floor level surveys and document distressed structures
  • Assign laboratory testing and assist with geotechnical report preparation
  • Compile laboratory test data and perform geotechnical analyses
  • Conduct calculations for shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement

Qualifications

Education

  • B.S. in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering (required)
  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or related field (preferred)

Required Skills

  • Entry-level to up to 2 years of geotechnical consulting experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and good organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
