Job Description
This position will report to a Principal or designee level staff member within our Specialty Engineering division. The position will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to:
- Forensic investigations of electrical and mechanical equipment failures
- Analysis of fluid systems
- Flow visualization and thermo-hydraulic modelling
- Vibration analysis
- Structural qualification of mechanical equipment and systems
- Design and deployment of field and laboratory equipment
- Advanced analysis of equipment, systems and structures using finite element codes
- Materials engineering and evaluations
- Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related engineering field
- 5 to 10 years’ experience with knowledge and experience in electrical and mechanical power plant systems, components and materials, or advanced engineering degree.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamic analysis and thermohydraulics
- Knowledge of ASME B&PV, AWS and related codes
- Knowledge of, and experience using CFD codes (ANSYS CFX, FLOTRAN, ALGOR)
- Experience using measurement devices
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to pass background and drug screenings to obtain security clearances at commercial nuclear plants and Dept. of Energy facilities (U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required for clearances).
- Ability to travel to customer or project sites (moderate travel required)
