Job Description
SOCOTEC Engineering is currently seeking a Materials/Metallurgical Engineer for our Materials Group. In this position, you will work with our team to conduct failure analysis investigations, materials and mechanical testing, and non-destructive evaluations.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting field inspections.
- Coordinating, planning, and conducting laboratory tests, including macro/microhardness, tensile, Charpy V-notch, leak/pressure, and custom long-term durability testing.
- Leading and completing failure analysis evaluations, including visual examinations, dimensional assessments, optical and scanning electron microscopy, metallography, mechanical and materials testing, and preparation of written reports.
- Managing projects, organizing new business opportunities, and communicating effectively with clients, engineering colleagues, and technical and administrative staff.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Ph.D. preferred), with familiarity/expertise in metallurgical engineering, materials science, and fracture mechanics.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Specialized metallurgical engineering knowledge and experience in metallographic and fractographic interpretation, corrosion, and materials characterization techniques is desired.
- Professional Engineer license, Certified Welding Inspector accreditation are desired.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
