Job Description
SOCOTEC is seeking an experienced Building Envelope Consultant with approximately 10 years of experience to join our Building Envelope Division. In this role, you will manage multiple projects throughout the entire project life cycle, coordinate project information with team members, and successfully establish and maintain client relationships. Our project portfolio is diverse and includes renovations and restorations on historic and non-historic buildings, modernizations, new construction/additions on all building types for both private and public clients. ABOUT YOU:
You are a highly self-motivated, hard-working individual who will be responsible for managing multiple projects on both existing and new buildings, acting as the prime designer and project manager, and collaborating with other team members to solve unique problems. You also have the following attributes:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage the entire project cycle from concept to completion, including Investigations, Evaluations, Studies, Design, Bidding and Contract Administration, Post Completion, as well Consulting for Owners, Architects and Engineers and Building Envelope Commissioning.
· Design and specifying quantities and types of materials to be used
· Consult with Owners, Architect and Engineers
· Lead and direct the work of other team members, both internally and externally
· Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity in varying stages of design, bidding, and construction phases
· Conceive and sketch design and details
· Review drawings and specifications for coordination, constructability and “bid- ability”, and produce red-lines
· Prepare specifications and Project Manuals for bidding and construction
· Understand and comply with applicable codes through all phases of projects including, but not limited to, Building Codes, Accessibility Codes, Energy Codes, etc.
· Lead coordination meetings, project meetings, pre-construction meetings, etc. with contractors and clients
· Perform and direct field investigations, existing conditions verification and construction reviews
· Properly maintain project files, data, and reports
· Interface with and manage sub-consultants, including but not limited to, reviewing proposals and contracts, and reviewing plans and specifications for coordination and compliance with the design intent
· Manage and track the design/construction budgets for all projects under their control
· Review and approve monthly invoicing and financial controls on projects
· Participate in project interviews and presentations with clients and industry partners
Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
· Experience in both new construction and existing buildings including interior and exterior repairs, restorations, and renovations, as well as accessibility upgrades and modernizations.
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD software / BIM experience
· Proficient in MS Office Suite
· Working knowledge of commonly used design and construction concepts, practices, and procedures
· Must be technically proficient in their understanding of building construction, techniques, and materials
· Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local codes
· Strong ability to manage all aspects of design within project budgets
· Working knowledge of basic project management and accounting principles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ten (10) years of experience in the industry (Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
· International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (“IIEBC’) Registration
· Experience with Massachusetts Public Procurement Regulations
· Industry registration and associations including AIA, Construction Specifications Institute, Building Commissioning Association, Passive House, USGBC LEED
