Job Description

The specialty engineering division of SOCOTEC is looking for an experienced NDE/NDT inspector to join our Brooklyn, NY team.  This position works in support of the specialty engineering failure analysis and fitness for service efforts.  The ideal candidate will be able to provide Level II/ AWS CWI inspection techniques to a diverse set of projects, ranging but not limited to construction, fabrication, and nuclear facilities. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and the ability to function independently and as a team.

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN – Brooklyn, NY

This position will report to a Principal or designee level staff member within our Specialty Engineering Division and will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to:

• Setup, calibrate, and utilize NDE test equipment
• Perform field walkdowns and inspections in support of specialty engineering projects
• Interpret, evaluate, communicate and report findings to engineering project managers
• Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather, analyze and communicate information to resolve problems

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years working in an engineering environment, 2+years of experience as a Level II NDE/NDT inspector, AWS CWI desired.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical skills required.
• Basic understanding of, and ability to read drawings, schematics and specifications.
• NDE Level II certification with ASNT-TC-1A or equivalent in magnetic particle (MT), dye penetrant (PT), and ultrasonic (UT/PAUT) preferred
• Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, working at heights
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to travel to customer or project sites (moderate travel required)
• OSHA 10 certification preferred
