Job Description

The Business Analyst is the central interface between commercial teams and data-driven insights, executes analysis of complex patient and market data in rare diseases, develops executive dashboards and performance analytics. He/she delivers strategic recommendations to optimize commercialization strategy. The focus is on hematology-oncology and nephrology rare disease environments

Main responsibilities:

  • Data-driven support for commercial decision-making in rare disease markets
  • Regular sales reporting and performance analytics for General Manager and Sales Leadership
  • Development and maintenance of interactive executive dashboards (Power BI or similar) with KPIs on sales performance, territory potential, and inventory
  • Analysis of patient, physician, and market data to identify trends, growth opportunities, and optimization levers
  • Monitoring and reporting of rare-disease-specific metrics (patient identification, HCP engagement, Centers of Excellence performance)
  • Execution of detailed territory analyses based on prevalence data, treatment centers, and HCP networks
  • Identification of high-value treatment centers and key physicians for targeted engagement
  • Creation of cycle plans and territory dossiers including patient flow maps, diagnosis rates, and market access barriers
  • Support of strategic territory optimization considering geographically dispersed patient populations
  • Development and maintenance of demand forecasting models based on epidemiological data and market launch timelines
  • Optimization of inventory management aligned with specialty pharmacy distribution and patient clusters
  • Monitoring of stock levels, near-expiry inventory, and patient cluster dynamics
  • Coordination with Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial teams for integrated planning processes
  • Close collaboration with General Manager and Sales Leads to define analytical priorities and business requirements
  • Presentation of complex analyses and strategic recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Partnership with Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Sales to gather market intelligence
  • Facilitation of annual business reviews and support of strategic planning processes

Qualifications

  • University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Life Sciences, or equivalent (Bachelor/Master)
  • 3–5 years of experience as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar analytical role
  • Proven experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare analytics sector 
  • Knowledge of rare disease or specialty pharma environment (advantageous) in particular awareness of rare disease specifics: patient identification, specialty pharmacy, centers of excellence, diagnostic pathways
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical market dynamics and commercial operations processes
  • Basic knowledge of market access, health economics, and payer landscape
  • Familiarity with KPIs related to sales, forecasting, territory management, and inventory control
  • Excel: Advanced proficiency with Pivot Tables, complex formulas, and VBA
  • SQL: Strong skills in database querying and data extraction
  • Power BI / Tableau: Demonstrated experience developing interactive dashboards and reports
  • Data Visualization: Ability to present complex data professionally for management audiences

The ideal candidate brings additionally:

  • CRM Systems: Experience with Veeva CRM, Salesforce, or similar pharma CRM platforms
  • Programming: Python or R for advanced statistical analysis
  • ERP Systems: Familiarity with SAP, IBM, or comparable tools for supply chain and financial data integration
  • Additional Tools: MS Visio, MS Project, QlikSense
