Job Description
The Regional Account Director (RAD) will act as a single point of contact in the field for the US Market Access Regional Payer team for the defined geographical region. The RAD supports the entire SOBI portfolio and works to ensure optimal market access spending much of their time engaging payers and influencers to enhance payer policy, insuring appropriate product formulary placement and working to increase overall patient access to our products. The RAD will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, influencers and customer types including Payers, Advocacy groups, Hospital Academia, IDNs, ACOs, C-Suite, High-Cost Drug Committees and Community Oncology Accounts.
SOBI’s portfolio is diverse, and we are deeply committed to the patients we serve so this position requires a deep knowledge of the assigned regional payer landscape as well as overall understanding of the health care delivery dynamics across variety of payer channels and customer types. The RAD will have brand specific objectives and be asked to prioritize efforts developing strategies to meet and exceed objectives by facilitating optimal and profitable access in various channels of business and must understand the financial and economic models and impact across patient benefits and sites of care. The RAD will seek to advance current policies, protocols and pathways in an effort to assist patients with access to our products. The RAD will facilitate the exchange of clinical / economic evidence to formulary decision makers (PIE, FDMA 114 & FDA Guidance) to payers and C-Level decision makers. The RAD will co-lead contracting and pull through initiatives partnering with commercial leadership to build and execute pull through plans, proactively engaging and enabling cross functional customer facing teams (ie. Sales, FRSM’s, etc.) and will be expected to lead without authority in a matrix environment. The ideal candidate will seek ways to increase SOBI internal stakeholders acumen, educating internal partners on market dynamics (policy, coverage, coding, payment). The ideal candidate will stay in tune with shifting market conditions alerting others to changing market dynamics and conditions and identifying business risks and opportunities in their market to optimize brand performance. The RAD will demonstrate accountability by actively participating in various corporate initiatives including items such as conducting routine QBRs to assess contract performance, establishing business plans and metrics to build, measure and report progress.
Please note: This role is remote; expected 50%-75% travel; Geography is currently CA, HI, AK, WA, OR, ID, NV, AZ, NV UT, CO, NM
Key Responsibilities
- FDA pre-approval payer market readiness: identify potential barriers to access to ensure a successful launch of products/indications building a strategy to engage all stakeholders
- Ensure appropriate coverage and policies / access to therapy across all assigned regional customers and markets including Key Commercial Payers, State Medicaid, Govt, Community Oncology Practices
- Engage in routine business discussions (QBRs) with customers including Regional Payers and Community Oncology Accounts
- Identify barriers to access and the solutions to address: Alternate payment models, outcome-based agreements/ contracts, and alternative access solutions
- Anticipate and evaluate reimbursement scenarios for all sites of care
- Infuse reimbursement confidence with executive and C-suite institutional key decision makers
- Internal / External subject matter expert (SME) on US coverage, policy, payments, and hospital financial dynamics for the Sobi portfolio of products
- Drive strategic partnerships with key Associations, Trade groups, Oncology societies and payer advocates
- Communicate critical competitive intelligence and insights within the market access marketplace
Qualifications
- A minimum of a B.A./B.S. required; MBA, Pharm D or other related degree preferred
- Valid Drivers License
- Experience:
- Payer account responsibility: experience calling on regional/ national payers.
- A minimum of 10 years successful pharmaceutical / biotechnology experience
- A minimum of 4-5 years successful experience in reimbursement / account management in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Hem/Onc disease state preferred
- Rare/Ultra Rare disease state preferred
- Industry Knowledge – proficient understanding of the pharmaceutical industry drug channels and distribution process (e.g. medical, pharmacy, managed care systems, etc.) as well as alternate payment models, outcomes based agreements / contracts, value based agreements / contracts, and alternative access solutions.
- Communication – ability to communicate and convey ideas and data both verbal and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner. Clearly communicate overall business goals and able to translate them into team and individual goals.
- Change Management / Flexibility – Confidently approaches and leads through change with ability to multi-task and comfort shifting business priorities based on evolving business needs
- Analytical Skills – Ability to analyze and leverage data / reports to identify trends and opportunities
- Business Planning – Develop and implement effective and across the portfolio business plans in support of the brand imperatives as it relates to assigned market access customers

The base salary range for this role is $175,000-$235,000. Each individual offer will be determined based on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, and location. Additionally, this role is eligible for both short-term and long-term bonuses, as outlined in the plan details.
