Job Description

Role purpose:
To plan and perform usability studies in order to gain deeper understanding of users’ characteristics, goals, and behaviors towards achieving these goals – while continuously evaluating the impact of the design on the users during the design and development phase, but also after long-term use.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Plan and execute research activities together with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Validate solutions to measure against the desired impact of the design work
  • Communicate customer end-user insights to product teams
  • Collaboratively contextualize the research work to Snow's environment
  • Follow projects from start to end while showing the value of user research to the rest of the organization

Qualifications

Core competencies, knowledge, and technical/professional qualifications:

  • Strong focus on understanding problems, needs, behaviors, and the context of users, to successfully recommend actions using objective data, and influence the actions taken based on that data
  • Proven proficiency in user research practices and methodologies
  • Expertise in design research, fluency in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Show a track record of delivering research insights that have had a lasting impact on product and design decisions

Desirables:

  • Education in ethnographic research, social anthropology or human-computer interaction
  • Experience working in a business-to-business organization setting
  • Comfortable communicating research insights in a clear and digestible way to key stakeholders within the business
