I used to refer to what I do as just “Presales”. Then I found out other people called it Application Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solution Consulting, Sales Engineer, and lots of other variants used to describe a profession that requires a unique set of skills and talents. (We call it “Solution Consulting” here at Snow).

Perhaps you know what I’m talking about. Or maybe you have worked with SAP for years and never really heard of the role.

All I know was that I realized I could understand the capabilities of our product better than most others. I enjoy showing other people how powerful our solution is, how it can be applied to solve specific needs they have, and how it delivers tangible business value when they truly embrace it.

Like me, you enjoy the switching of hats – one day be hands-on with technicians doing a test installation, and the next moment have a value conversation with business stakeholders.

Having to articulate complex technology in a way that translates to commercial value - and at the same time convince the skeptical technicians in the room that the solution meets their tough requirements – it’s a challenge not suited for everyone. But you love it.

If you have not already spent years in a Solution Consulting role, perhaps you are the person who solves the hard problems in your IT department, or comes up with the out of the box solutions for your users? You probably have vendors come and show you their solutions all the time, and you know you can do a better job at explaining the value to the business. You might just have what it takes to join the other side of the table.

We have an opening for the right person to join our team in the US.

We call the role “Senior Solution Consultant”, but that’s just our terminology for it.

In the day to day, you will be responsible to:

  • Gain a deep understanding of the product and become the regional expert on our SAP-focused product offerings.

(We have great documentation and a super-friendly community of other Solution Consultants across our offices who love to share knowledge and experience).

  • Support our SAP-dedicated enterprise account managers on high-value sales opportunities.

This includes tasks such as performing product demonstrations to both technical and business-minded audiences.

  • Conduct and write responses to technical product questionnaires
  • Conduct workshops and solution design sessions with prospects (and sometimes existing customers or partners)
  • Scope, conduct and deliver test installations (“Proof of Concept”).
  • Provide current and relevant subject matter expertise regarding Snow’s market
  • Communicate and collaborate with the product team regarding any issues or feature requests that impact prospects or existing customers
  • Assist Marketing in delivering white papers and participating in market events
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Snow teams across the organization

This role is aimed specifically at our SAP License Management offering, and therefore we feel you need to have certain core background skills/experience to be successful and effective.

  • You need to be familiar with key SAP licensing concepts, such as user license assignments, user license type definitions, such as Limited Professional, Worker, engines and self-declaration licenses.
  • Strong understanding of SAP Licensing metrics/methods/strategies
  • Familiar with embedded SAP license measurement tools (USMM and SLAW)
  • Familiar with SAP GRC
  • Good understanding of digital document model along with indirect usage risk
  • Understands the landscape in market pertaining to S/4HANA and what that means for SAP customers functionally and architecturally
  • Strong presentation skills to technical and business audiences (onsite, conference or seminar).
  • Ability to map customer’s high level business problems to our product solution and value.

Qualifications

Other experience we would consider important strengths:

  • SAP Basis experience and/or security/access management experience. It could be beneficial for you have hands-on experience configuring and administrating SAP environments, big or small. (Or enough real-world experience and technology knowhow to make us all believe you could have
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (when / in what form business travel resumes post-Covid).
