The role holder will provide expert security architecture/design services and oversight for platforms (with a focus on designing, building and integrating solutions on cloud, multi-cloud micro-services architectures using Kubernetes, application security models, composite applications with hybrid (cloud and on-premises) deployment model and security best practice for globally distributed architectures), grow and manage a specialist team of platform security specialists, and work closely with Snow’s platform reliability, performance and development teams to ensure that the service delivery pipeline is covered, monitoring and health checks are fully automated and the platform maintains a high standard of availability, operability and is highly performant.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong platform security team, set a clear direction together with you team, and break this down into goals and tasks that get executed so that goals are met and Snow’s runtime platforms are proactively protected.
• Lead and influence Snow’s approach to platform security across the global Engineering organisation, clearly communicating (and gaining support for) why best practice technical solutions and security standards are chosen in place of others.
• Facilitate and drive continuous improvements together with relevant stakeholders, making sure you optimize the whole and not sub-optimize the parts.
• Foster a culture where people feel motivated and technical excellence is used as an enabler to differentiate Snow’s product and service offerings.
• Align with and contribute to Snow’s global technology and infrastructure strategy.

• Strong technical understanding and experience of platform security from a full-stack perspective (i.e., application, infrastructure, and data ) and how to troubleshoot problems and best implement new features and enhancements, and a strong understanding of emerging threats and vulnerability research.
• Highly experienced in cloud security (adoption, migration, and governance), the architecture of cloud-native  (cncf) solutions, and practices within development (enabling) teams.
• Strong knowledge and experience of Data Governance (i.e., DR, DLP, DRM, GDPR, etc.), network and endpoint security, operating within public clouds (e.g., MS Azure), CNCF, Open Source, observability (e.g., logging, metrics, trace), and ITIL/ISO 27000 standards and working practices.
• Be proficient in asset management and identity/access management.
• Be proficient in threat intelligence, automation, and orchestration.
• Ability to manage stakeholder expectations, drive change, and face off to customers when needed.

Technical/professional qualifications:

Recognised technical/professional qualifications and/or certifications in information and cyber security (e.g.,  CREST CRTSA, SABSA, TOGAF etc.)
