Job Description
Job Purpose:
The UI/UX Engineer designs and helps build user-facing interfaces for the team's applications over a defined engagement, raising the design quality and consistency of the team's tools and leaving behind a clean, documented handover.
Duties:
- Gather and interpret user and business requirements through stakeholder conversations, and user research where relevant.
- Design user interfaces and experiences for the team's web and app-based solutions, from wireframes through to high-fidelity designs.
- Build and maintain design system components for consistency across the team's applications.
- Translate designs into working front-end code, or work closely with developers to implement them accurately.
- Present design concepts, prototypes and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback into iterations.
- Conduct usability reviews and iterate on designs based on feedback.
- Work with stakeholders and developers to balance user needs with technical constraints.
- Ensure designs meet accessibility standards.
- Document design decisions and maintain design assets for future reference and a clean handover at the end of the contract.

Bachelor of Engineering
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years' UI/UX design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating web and/or app design work.
- 3+ years' practical experience with design tooling such as Figma or Adobe XD.
- 1+ years' hands-on experience translating designs into front-end code (HTML/CSS/JS) or working closely with developers who do.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and usability best practice.

- Able to work independently within a fixed-term engagement and hand over cleanly at the end of contract.
- Confident presenting design concepts and prototypes to stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind decisions.
- Experience designing for enterprise or internal business applications rather than purely consumer products.
- Front-end development experience in Angular or a similar framework.
- Experience establishing a design system from scratch.

- User-Centric Design: Translating user needs and complex business logic into intuitive, accessible interfaces.
- Rapid Prototyping: Building wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity interactive models using tools like Figma or Adobe XD.
- Frontend Translation: Bridging the gap between design and development by writing clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Angular code.
- Design Systems Architecture: Establishing and maintaining reusable component libraries to ensure visual consistency across applications.
- Usability & Accessibility: Ensuring all applications meet strict accessibility standards (WCAG) and iterating based on continuous user feedback.
- Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulating design decisions and collaborating smoothly with technical teams, product managers, and business leaders.
