Job Description
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to manufacture parts or products by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes employee schedule based on production requirements.
- Generate production schedules to accurately reflect to sales the completion dates of manufactured product.
- Create, manage, and close production orders through the manufacturing department.
- Review order variances for accuracy.
- Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Plans flow of materials through department(s).
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met. Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Performs activities of workers supervised.
- Handles disciplinary issues with shift employees. Trains, upgrades, evaluates, and reviews subordinate employees.
- Applies company employee/labor relations policies in all dealings with employees.
- Ensures the Quality Policy is understood, implemented, and maintained within department(s). Ensures that department(s) are actively participating in 5S (workplace organization) program.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 1 to 50 employees in the various departments on production floor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
