STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a Buyer to join the team. This position is responsible for coordinating the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, tools, and supplies for the organization.  Buyers are also responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions and material requirement plans (MRP) and conferring with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Ensures supplier qualifies for purchase order placement per quality requirements as required.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
  • Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
  • Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity.
  • Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
  • Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
  • Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
  • Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
  • Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
  • Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
  • Manages inventory liabilities.
  • Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost-effective manner.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

Qualifications

Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and three-five years of professional buying experience in a manufacturing setting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
