Job Description

Content Creation Duties to be carried out independently:

  • Responsible for the effective storyboarding of eLearning content to be passed to the digital training team for both training and learning requirements.
  • Creates, modifies or updates PowerPoint presentations for both customers and internal training delivered to ensure training is on brand and includes all recommendations from the TNA (if applicable).
  • Responsible for ensuring corporate imagery of department permeates through all outputs from solution consultancy pillar.
  • Creation of learning and training pathway material in all formats, ideally also able to support with digital training design, including videography.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy, alignment and formatting of training content – whether that be PowerPoint, trainer notes or other presentation material.
  • Can independently gather information required to inform content creation and research gaps within the training material to self-own locating answers.
  • Can support with the design of interactive online trainings and webinars, to include the creation of supporting presentation material
  • The creation of material catering for learner needs, to include human factors knowledge where applicable

Quality Assurance Duties to be carried out independently:

  • Significant quality assurance activities to include review and editing of documentation, training material and digital learning to ensure accuracy and consistency in terminology and approach. Linguistic and terminological review of editorial content based on the editorial guide, ensuring consistency across the department.
  • Set up and management of the Smiths Detection terminology database to include communication with wider departments to align terminology globally.
  • Interacting on a daily basis with content within the CMS, using this content to inform the creation of training content where possible.
  • Publishing content on completion to the global training stakeholder group, ensuring that the availability of new content is communication across the team.
  • Complete reviews of all current Training material to complete improvement activities in relation to the formatting, spelling and terminology of material globally.

Administration Duties to be carried out independently:

  • Ensuring effective system storage of completed documents to include monitoring of the Content Management System (CMS) to maintain a tidy storage system.
  • Processing translation requests using external provider to include obtaining cost estimates, creating orders (BANF), raising Purchase Orders, and completing initial review on translations received to ensure quality where required.
  • Ensure consistent documentation filing structure and naming convention to enable the easy location of training materials.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Education:

  • An English qualification and / or exceptionally high standards of English.
  • Education in a training or learning discipline to enable effective creation of training content.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Quality Assurance skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ideally, but not essentially a level of competency in the German Language.
  • A high level of organisation skills with the ability to manage many tasks concurrently.
  • Experience in or knowledge of working with editing systems.
  • A high level of proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of human behaviours and learning needs – to include being able to apply this knowledge to the effective creation of training material to meet the needs of learners.

Additional Information

Job Purpose:

A critical position in the global training department’s ability to deliver high quality Training Material and Documentation. This role will be critical in ensuring a high quality of all training content throughout the department.

This role holder supports the Training delivery and quality pillar of the Global Training and Documentation department.  This role involves creating content for the training department to a high quality, whilst also ensuring that departmental branding and terminology is maintained. This role will deliver the quality assurance activity required to ensure highly accurate documentation and training material is delivered to our customer and internal audiences, as such an exceptionally high standard of English is required. The role will also support with administration tasks such as the creation of Purchase Orders for activities such as translation of materials and other aspects of the day to day running of the department to ensure smooth operation.
